Today, I went to my flat around 11am to take a look. All the carpentry works are almost done. The TV console turned out not to be satisfactory as I had initially thought. There was some space at the side of the console for my Hales speakers. The problem is the speakers will be facing dead ahead and that is not the way to place these speakers. The speakers will have to be tilted in the direcion of the listener to get the sweet spot, or else the sound staging is gone. I think the contractor did not realise this. I also will not have anyy space behind the speakers to put the crossover unit. In the end, I told the ID to remove the speaker base and make it mobile so that I can adjust it to my liking.
The LG fridge and washer was delievered today. OMG, the fridge weighs 185kg. There was no way for the two delivery man to bring it into the flat unless they they remove the fridge doors. And that was what they did. This is one giant of a fridge. But, I did not regret buying it. It was too good a deal to miss.
One of the kitchen cabinet doors will hit the ceiling mounted fan when I open the door, so I asked the ID to shift the fan another 3 inches to the other side.
I went to Shanghai Tong Lee Hardware to exchange the lock for the main door. The key given in the set did not fit into the ley hole. Now, that's poor quality control. The manufacturers should have checked to see if that is the correct key for the lock. I bought another 40 Blum soft closing hinges.
Damage= $180
I walked to Mustafa to look at vacuum cleaners. I settled for a bagless unit which has what they call cyclone power and is rated at 2000W. I also bought a Moulinex juicer.
Damage= $310
Total damage today= $490
Buying both of the above mentioned items was the easy part. The hard part was to lug it back. That is in addition to the 40 Blum hinges in my haversack which weighs probably 10kg. I walked to Farrer Park MRT, took the MRT to Potong Pasir and handed all the items over to the ID. I ended up with red red palms and heavy perspiration. All this just to save $10 on taxi fare. But, I think it was worth it loh, at least got save some $ and got some exercise at least.
